Japanese Sandwiches (Live Online)
Referred to as “sando” in Japan, the sandwich has become an integral part of Japanese cuisine. The Katsu Sando is the iconic king of the Sando world. Imagine a perfectly fried, panko-crusted piece of chicken or pork drenched in a salty, sweet, umami rich Katsu sauce, surrounded by soft and fluffy slices of Japanese Milk Bread. In this class, we’ll start off by making the Japanese Milk Bread on day 1. The bread needs to fully cool, so the next day, we’ll come back and make the crispy fried chicken and assemble in time for lunch. We’ll also walk you through the steps to make a Japanese-Style Egg Salad Sando. Lastly, we will do a quick demo of a fruit sando. Join us for this introduction to modern Japanese comfort cooking. Pork, or Tonkatsu is a more common sandwich than chicken. However, in the class we will be using chicken. Feel free to substitute pork or tofu.
